How do I make subtitles?

Upload the file, wait for the transcript, correct it, then export SRT or VTT.

    MP4 video or audio (MP3, M4A, WAV and more), up to 2 GB per file.

    Correct

    Fix any line while listening to it. Rename speakers once for the whole file.

    Export

    Choose SRT or VTT from the export menu: the edited version or the original.

What does the SRT file look like?

Numbered cues, each with a start and end time and the text to show. This is a real export of the fictional Thai meeting shown on the meeting page.

The speaker's name starts each cue. Remove it in your editor if you do not want it on screen.

SRT or VTT?

Same content, different format. VTT (WebVTT) starts with WEBVTT, uses a dot in timestamps and carries the speaker as a voice tag; it suits web video players. SRT is accepted by more editing software.

What it does not do

Scripta makes subtitle files from speech. It is not a video editor.

  • Video must be MP4. Convert MOV or MKV first.
  • No YouTube or link import: upload a file you have the rights to.
  • No burned-in captions and no caption styling.
  • No translation: subtitles are in the spoken language.
  • Cues follow the speech segments, so a long stretch of speech makes a long cue. Check before publishing.

Questions

Can I make English subtitles from Thai audio?

No. Scripta does not translate transcripts; subtitles are in the language spoken.

What does it cost?
